Teaching is an absolute passion of mine!  I am so excited to be working at Pensacola Jr. Academy and hopefully I will be working with you and your child!  It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us!  I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.

I am married to my wonderful husband Ben.  We have a daughter (Kylie) who will be in fourth grade and a son (Thomas) who is going to be in seventh grade.  Some hobbies that I enjoy are traveling, playing tennis, and reading!  I have lived all over the United States. I went to Highland Academy in TN and graduated from Southern Adventist University in 2000.  This will be my tenth year teaching.  I taught 2 years of grades 5-8 at Ridgetop Adventist School and seven years grades 1-8 in Salmon, ID, where I also served as principal.  I absolutely love teaching.  It is my mission to instill a love for learning in my students.  I teach with passion so that my students will hope fully develop a desire to become life-long learners.

In my classroom I like to encourage opportunities for hands on learning  with the focus being around Jesus. I also focus on the individual student, and like to use a variety of learning techniques to reach each student’s way of learning such as: technology, Project learning, Creativity, and Speaking.  One thing that is important to me is focusing on the student as a whole child: academic, spiritual and physical.

Reading is encouraged throughout the day whether read to or reading independently.  As their teacher, my responsibility is helping my students feel good about who they are and confidendent in their ability to tackle the challenges of learning.  Also in my classroom I like to use various centers for students to learn and explore.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the 2016-17 school year at Pensacola Jr. Academy.  I would love to hear from you.
